The Grand Divisions of Tennessee

II. Middle Tennessee lies to the west from the Cumberland Plateau; the region is characterized by rolling hills and fertile river valleys, as well as the capital city of the state, Nashville in addition to the largest metropolitan area in Tennessee which is Nashville Metropolitan Area. The park is spread over around 200,000 acres, located along the ridgeline of the Great Smoky Mountains, a subrange of the Appalachian Mountains.
This park houses the biggest remains of an Arcto-Tertiary Geoflora that once covered the Northern Hemisphere, and it offers a glimpse into exactly what the Pleistocene (Ice Age) plant life might have looked like prior to the recent impacts of humans.
The main entrance to the park in Tennessee is in Gatlinburg as well as the entrance to North Carolina at Cherokee.
