The region that is Wisconsin formed part of first area of United States, being part of the lands that were that were ceded by four states to the United States and designated in 1787 as the “Territory Northwest of the River Ohio. The ” Wisconsin Territory was created on July 3rd, 1836 out of a part of Michigan Territory; it included the entirety of today’s Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota and the eastern part of North Dakota and South Dakota and a tiny portion of the northeastern part of Nebraska.
Wisconsin joined the Union on the 29th of May 1848 as the 30th state. It has generally the same boundaries as the current state.
